DesignMyCV is run by Shailesh Jalan, Pune, India. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Contact: shaileshjalan19@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account details: the email address or mobile number you sign in with, and what you add to your profile (name, city, career stage, the job you are aiming for).
- Your documents: the CVs you build and save in your account.
- Files you upload to check an ATS score or convert between PDF and Word. These are processed and then deleted from our server straight away. We keep only the score, not the file.
- Live visitor count: the home page sends an anonymous random code (kept in your browser) every minute so we can show how many people are online. It holds no personal details and is forgotten after 3 minutes. To show a total visitor count, we also keep that random code (not your name, email or IP address) so each browser is counted once.
- Usage information: your IP address, browser type, language, an estimate of your country, and actions such as "downloaded a CV" or "checked an ATS score". We use this to keep the service running, prevent abuse and see which features are useful.
- Ratings you choose to give. If an admin approves your written review, it may appear on our home page with your first name, the initial of your last name, your target role and city.
Why we use it
- To sign you in with a one-time code and keep you signed in.
- To save, show and export your CVs.
- To keep the service safe, for example by limiting how often codes can be requested.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
We do not sell your data and we do not show you third-party ads.
Who else handles it
- Hosting: Railway stores the site and its database.
- Email delivery: Brevo sends your login codes.
- Fonts: the site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.
Where your data is processed
Our hosting provider (Railway) and email provider (Brevo) run servers that may be outside India. By using the service you understand that your data may be processed there, under those providers' own security and privacy terms.
Cookies and storage
We use one cookie, which keeps you signed in. Your browser also keeps an unsaved draft of your CV and your language choice on your device. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and CVs until you delete them. Uploaded files for checking or converting are deleted as soon as they are processed. Login codes expire after 5 minutes.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile at any time from the avatar button in the app.
- Delete any CV, or delete your whole account from your profile ("Delete my account"). This removes your account, CVs, ratings and activity history.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, by writing to shaileshjalan19@gmail.com.
Depending on where you live, laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 or the EU GDPR may give you further rights. Contact us and we will help.
Children
DesignMyCV is meant for job seekers. If you are under 18, please use it with the permission of a parent or guardian.
Security
Login codes are stored only as one-way hashes, sessions are signed, and access to your CVs is limited to your account. No online service can be perfectly secure, so please don't put sensitive details such as ID numbers or bank details in your CV.

Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. Significant changes will be shown on the site.
